What classification system does the Harvey Library use? What is a call number?

The Harvey Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System. This system uses letters and numbers to arrange books and materials on the same topic and in doing so they are grouped together on the shelf.

The call number is the 'address' for the book you are looking for. When you go to the shelf to get a book, the call number is located on the spine of a book.

If the call number begins with A thru PZ, the book will be located on the 4th floor. If the call number begins with Q thru Z, the book will be located on the 3rd floor.
